"liquid" terminator, or everything you wanted to know about Robert Patrick. The Terminatorium - All About The Terminator Staged by Alan Taylor

Natalia Grigorieva

American actor Robert Patrick turns 55. The first thing that comes to mind when this name is mentioned is his role as a "liquid" Terminator T-1000 in a James Cameron film. An inexperienced viewer is unlikely to remember the rest, and this artist has more than a hundred of them - in the end, someone needs to play in episodes. About which films and why you need to look for Robert Patrick - in the material of the Weekend project.

"Die Hard 2"

Before playing the role of his life in Terminator 2, Patrick repeatedly appeared on the screen in secondary roles, staking out the role of the "bad guy". To a large extent, the formation of the image was facilitated by the appearance in one of the scenes of "Die Hard 2", dedicated to the terrorist seizure of the airport. Once again, policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis), saving the whole world, has to face the ruthless mercenary O "Reilly, who is played by Robert Patrick. name - one surname, nevertheless served his performer a good service, since it was in this role that Patrick was noticed by James Cameron, who was looking after the actors for "Doomsday."

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

In the second part of the story, the hero of Arnold Schwarzenegger again comes from the future, but already in a reprogrammed form and with a good purpose - to save John Connor, the son of Sarah Connor, who, in turn, will have to grow up and defeat the robots who rebelled against humanity. While the "good" Terminator is looking for clothes, the "bad", or rather the "liquid" one will materialize nearby - the fact is that the hero of Robert Patrick, an improved model of the cyborg T-1000, can take any form here, and therefore is almost invulnerable. It seeps through ceilings and walls and catches bullets without harm to health, but it is very effective - in the place of gunshot wounds, even in the head, there are instantly tightening shiny holes. All this is the merit of computer technologies, which were first used to create special effects in the second "Terminator". But the T-1000 owes its impenetrable expression to Robert Patrick - a resolute and silent handsome villain in police uniform who not only regenerates and relentlessly pursues the Connor family, but is also distinguished by intelligence and ingenuity, cunningly transforming even into Sarah and thereby trying to deceive everyone and all. The main characters, of course, are also not bastard and finally find a way to defeat the enemy: they drown him in a vat of boiling metal. The character of Schwarzenegger is also sent there, who in the end got all the glory - obviously, thanks to that very thumb raised in the finale. As for Robert Patrick, in memory of the role, he named his daughter Austin - as a policeman, whose appearance his character took on earth.

"Secret materials"

In most films, the heroes of Robert Patrick linger on the screen for a short time - such is the unenviable fate of Hollywood villains and performers of cameo roles. However, there are exceptions in the actor's filmography, and it's not only about negative characters, like the above-mentioned "liquid" Terminator, who lived to the very end. For example, in the TV series "The X-Files", of which inattentive viewers remembered only Mulder and Scully, Robert Patrick played a very noticeable and not the least role. His character named John Doggett appears in seasons 8 and 9 - a former Marine, and now an FBI agent, at first leads the operation to find the once again missing Mulder, but never finding him, enters the service in the ill-fated department of classified materials and for some that time becomes Scully's partner, whom she certainly does not trust at first. In this case, Robert Patrick, in a sense, has to play the role that Gillian Anderson played at the very beginning of the series - a skeptic who does not believe in any aliens - and work side by side with the conspiracy theory turned Scully. These two still find a common language, and later Mulder is found, to whom Doggett helps to avoid the death penalty - nothing is known about the further fate of the character, but "I want to believe." But Robert Patrick for this role in 2001 was awarded the American science fiction Saturn Prize as the best television actor.

"Faculty"

In 1998, Robert Rodriguez's film "The Faculty" was released - a chilling story about aliens who invaded school teachers. Let's leave outside the analysis of the satirical image of the educational system, the parody of typical slasher characters and other artistic features of this outstanding example of the genre and turn to the character of Robert Patrick, who appears here in all his villainous glory and terrorizes not just anyone, but at that time young and Hollywood's rising stars Elijah Wood and Josh Hartnett. His trainer Willis turns out to be one of the first teachers captured by aliens, and already at the beginning of the film behaves very suspiciously - for example, he tries to kill the headmaster. Further more: Patrick not only walks the whole film with the trademark face of a cold-blooded bastard, with all his facial expressions showing that he should not be trusted, but also actively "infects" colleagues - in one of the scenes a creature like a slug crawls out of his mouth and crawls into his ear victims, thanks to which it becomes clear how alien invaders infiltrate people. The main disappointment is that it is not the physical instructor who turns out to be the queen of the aliens, although only the evil aliens drawn on the computer look more convincing than Robert Patrick as a negative character.

Just as in traditional animation, rotoscopy from living figures was often used for realism of movement, so in computer graphics, real movements are transferred to the digital domain.
To digitally create a metal person, from a linear skeleton to a fully moving figure with muscles and skin, the group first had to take photographs of Robert Patrick's movement features. A black mesh was applied to the actor, which was supposed to help the computer process information about the movement, and then his movements were filmed in front and in profile. Then the result was digitized, and a moving computer skeleton was built from them frame by frame. By the way, the computer also reflected Patrick's barely noticeable limp - the result of his long-standing sports knee injury.
While working on the T-1000, the specialists faced a typical problem that accompanies work on complex three-dimensional shapes: the joints of polygons and individual parts of the object often appear folds and overlap, which disrupted the overall continuity of the shape. ILM's response was the "Body Sock" program, which smoothed and welded together the individual faces of the modeled surface. Stefen Fangmeier, CTO of the Human Movement Group, recalls: “Body parts have always been a torment for traditional computer graphics. Body Wrap was the biggest software advancement in T2 and quickly became an indispensable tool in our arsenal. "
Another key element of ILM's digital arsenal, which they called "our secret weapon", was the well-known "Photoshop". When there was no time left to fix filmed or re-rendered 3D scenes, artists armed themselves with Photoshop and digital tablets to just paint over the flaws. “One of the biggest challenges we face when creating special effects,” says Dennis Muren, “is that magic doesn't always work. in fact - small. Or around the flying man suddenly appear to be cables, which were supposed to be invisible. Or someone from the film crew will suddenly be reflected in the glass of the car. But if a few years ago would have required expensive reshoots, now this can be corrected by an invisible digital For example, in the scene where the T-1000 runs out of the elevator in the underground garage of the clinic, we could not manage to avoid the separation of the model's shoulders from the body. This happened for only a few frames, but that was enough to destroy the illusion. painted over these gaps, and the scene was saved. As a result, we used "our secret weapon" in 30 percent digital scenes. "

Perhaps the main blockbuster, if not of the entire 20th century, then the 90s of its years returned to the screens: 26 years after the premiere, James Cameron re-releases Terminator 2: Judgment Day who underwent meticulous digital restoration and converted to 3D format. An excellent reason to remember that just one casting decision could make a cult film completely different from what millions of moviegoers know and love.

A big problem got in the way James Cameron, who decided to make Arnold not a cold-blooded killer robot, but a caring nanny who swore an oath not to kill anyone. For filming " Doomsday"The director had to find for the role of the antagonist someone who would not just bring horror to the viewer no less than an unstoppable evil Arnold sample of 1984, but someone who would make the viewer believe that someone could convert T-800 into flight.

Today, when " Judgment Day»Has acquired the well-deserved status of a Hollywood classic, Robert Patrick associated with the role T-1000, the famous "liquid robot", is as strong as itself Arnold associated with the role of the Robot Terminator, which brought him worldwide fame. Imagining someone else in the place of both is almost impossible.

Robert Patrick with his "lookalike", put together by Stan Winston studio

But in 1990, when Cameron I was looking for a suitable candidate, everything could have turned out completely differently. After all, the first, main and almost the only contender for the role was a British musician Billy Idol.

The scandalous performer was at the zenith of fame, and the most prominent directors wanted to work with him. Literally at the same time Idol accepted the invitation to play one of the main roles in the biographical tape “ Doors» Oliver Stone... The Oscar-winning director, who by that time had filmed the incorruptible " Platoon», « Wall Street" and " Born on the 4th of July", He spoke about Billy:

Singer Billy Idol

“These guys never have too much in their lives. They are not characterized by a lack of appetite for pleasure. They have no problem with that. "

Perhaps this is the positioning Idol as the bearer of the anarchic spirit of the rebel, who even Arnold do not care, and convinced Cameron give him the role of the antagonist. Image T-1000 began to be developed specifically for him. As later recalled Robert Patrick in an interview with the publication TheHollywoodReporter, during his visit to the studio Stan Winston, who worked with his specialists in practical effects and animatronics, he saw there a sketch on which he was depicted Idol in the form of "liquid".

What went wrong?

Returning to words Stone, I note that the appetite for pleasures in Idol definitely not. But because of this, there were a lot of problems. On February 6, 1990, the musician got into a serious accident that almost cost him his life. Returning home late at night from the recording studio, Idol ignored the red traffic light, flew his motorcycle into an intersection and was hit by a car.

An idol driving his chopper at the Doors movie premiere. March 1991

“When I woke up, my gaze was rested on the curb,” recalls Billy. “My God, I can think. It flashed through my head. It means that not everything is so bad, since my head is still working ”. And then I felt a leg and an arm and realized just as clearly that I simply could not bear such pain. I tried to move, but my arm hung like a whip. I tried to move my leg, but it looked like a mess smeared on the ground. "

As a result of the incident, Idol suffered a serious injury to his right leg: it was broken, and a hole the size of a baseball formed under the knee. For a while, the doctors kept the wound open and the bone was visible through it. The star patient went through five surgeries and underwent painful bone augmentation.

It is curious that in an interview with the magazine TheRollingStone Idol shared the secret of overcoming the adversity that fell on him. As it turned out, on the eve of the accident, he watched the film “ HellraiserII ":

“This film prepared me to think about the other side of the situation.».

The singer was stuck in the Cedars Sinai rehabilitation center (Los Angeles) for weeks, and during this time Cameron radically revised his approach to choosing an actor. Instead of someone famous; someone who would transfer to the screen the weight of his image of a rock star with a crowd of fans, Jim decided to invite an unknown and inconspicuous actor - someone who could merge with the crowd, not stand out, which would more accurately reflect the essence of the character.

After watching the sequel " Die Hard", Such a candidate was found in the person of a 32-year-old actor Robert Patrick performed in the film with Bruce Willis the role of one of the mercenaries. I met him Mali Finn- the famous casting director, with whose help Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Russell Crowe took their first steps in the industry. Edward Furlong, who played the role in T2 John Connor, also found and offered Cameron Finn.

Robert Patrick, Linda Hamilton and Jim Cameron on the set of "T2"

Patrick laughingly recalled that his agent "sold" him as a mixture of David Bowie and James Dean. During a personal meeting with Finn, the actor tried to impress with a tense gaze and, presumably, he succeeded, because the T-1000's gaze has become one of the hallmarks of the image.

Another hallmark was, of course, the running of the liquid metal killer. During the pursuit “on foot” the actor could not seem either out of breath or tired. After getting the role, a grueling period of training began: in contrast to the massive Schwarzenegger personifying the power of a machine under human flesh, Robert was to become as flexible, slender and fast as possible. Every day, the actor went through 4 different workouts and the result exceeded all expectations, which became visible during the filming of the chase episode T-1000 per John Connor leaving a shopping center parking lot in his Honda moped.

Dresser working on the T-1000 uniform

“I did everything like a sprinter. I focused on the goal and did not waste my energy. I clenched my jaw, no breathing through my mouth - I breathed only through my nose and did not express any emotions, so that the character would cause maximum tension. And so during the filming of the first big chase in the parking lot, I took and just caught up with John. I caught up and thought, “Well, what the hell am I supposed to do with him now?”. And Jim is like “God! How fast can this guy run at all? ” All in all, they had to work on increasing the power of the motorcycle. "

For creating, without exaggeration, the canon image of a ruthless robot, in 1992 Robert Patrick won MTV Movie awards and Saturn nominations for Best Villain and Best Supporting Actor.

As for Billy Idol, the only thread from our reality to a parallel one, where the musician not only successfully slipped on red, but also starred in the role of T-1000, remained this drawing, made in the late 80s by himself James Cameron.

The Cyberdyne Systems 1000 series terminator, or simply T-1000, is a series of terminators created by Skynet in 2029. Unlike previous infiltrators, which used rubber skin or living tissue over a metal endoskeleton as camouflage, the T-1000 is made entirely of liquid metal called mimic polysolav. This meant that it could deform and take any shape. The T-1000 was a prototype, one of the most advanced Skynet developments in the infiltrator program.

History of creation

The total amount of materials and resources that Skynet spent on translating the T-1000 project into reality was overwhelming, even for artificial intelligence.

The real appearance of the T-1000

The time and materials required to create one 1000 series unit would be enough to create five 500 series terminators. The very existence of such a machine meant not only that Skynet would achieve tactical superiority over the Resistance, but also that in a short time this advantage would become strategic.

Skynet calculated that for a complete victory he would need two thousand terminators from a mimic polysplav. With the help of this amount of T-1000, Skynet planned to nullify all the benefits received by the remnants of humanity in a month. In three months, the situation was supposed to change to the diametrically opposite, and the complete dominance of Skynet over the planet was to be achieved within six months. Humanity was not supposed to have a single chance of survival. However, the creation of 2,000 T-1000 units would have loaded production capacity so much that Skynet would not have been able to build any more robots before replenishing its resources. But soon, thanks to the abilities of the T-1000, all Skynet units, even the lightest, would have access to resources located in areas previously closed to machines. But the T-1000 was never launched into the series.

Technical data

The T-1000 was built using a completely new technology - nanotechnology. He was not just a machine, but a combination of millions and millions of microscopic machines connected to each other in a network using a communication routine.

Here I am

Each such machine was constructed from a mimic polysplav, a pseudo-living being made up not of living cells, but of billions of tiny machines. The T-1000 can change shape by simply ordering parts of itself to move to a different position. The T-1000 can perfectly imitate anything with which it comes into physical contact. He perfectly copies people. Equipped with a molecular energy source that surpasses those used in the T-800, the T-1000 can be equal in strength to any previous generation machine, and can run at a speed of at least 40 miles per hour.

Camouflage

The mimic polysplav allows the T-1000 to imitate any object or person of similar size from a molecular impression obtained through physical contact.

You stepped on my face

And for this I will kill you now

It seems that the T-1000 uses some kind of information retrieval method, in which it does not need to touch the skin of the simulated object directly. However, the T-1000 does not know how to generate heat like the human body and is always cool to the touch.

As a rule, 1000 series infiltrators are produced in some basic form. The Terminator can imitate both larger and smaller objects, but most often it prefers to be in the basic one given to it at "birth".

Base skin

This appearance appears to be more energetically beneficial, and reduces the stress caused by molecular expansion when simulating larger objects. When the T-1000 imitates a person larger than its base form, its density decreases, but its mass remains the same. In this case, the T-1000 compensates for the discrepancy between its mass and appearance by simulating a heavier gait. The T-1000 can read lips and reproduce the voice of any person copied by it.

Regeneration

Due to the fact that it is made of liquid metal, the T-1000 is capable of extensive regeneration. Ballistic injury can lead to hydrostatic shock, but this condition will only last for a few seconds. Damage heals very quickly, but it takes energy.

Now everything will be overgrown

One of the most fundamental directives of the T-1000 is the Essence Restoration command - a command that is embedded at the deepest level. Thus, the main command in the molecular memory of the mimicking polysplav was to find the bulk and reunite with it.

Gathering together

The separation of the "units" from the T-1000 is not able to stop its regeneration, since each separate unit will strive to reunite with other units and restore a fully functional combat unit, at least it works at short distances.

Finally got together

"Whole" T-1000 has a very high intelligence, but the more is lost, the less efficiency. The smaller the particle size, the less "smart" they become. In this case, the same basic command is turned on, aimed at restoring the whole.

Artificial intelligence and programming

The T-1000 molecular brain contains the same data, programs and files as the 800 series machines, and they are also capable of learning. The T-1000 also differs from the T-800 in that it can operate only in one mode - autonomous. When Skynet created the T-1000, it was an undoubted breakthrough, but at the same time, artificial intelligence realized that it was quite possible that he had created a weapon that could turn against its creator. A weapon that Skynet might not have defended against. The behavior of the T-1000 was very difficult, almost impossible to calculate, and therefore Skynet took all possible measures to protect itself from its own creation. The programming of the T-1000 was crammed with an incredible amount of defense mechanisms that were supposed to prevent the mutiny of the polymorphic machine against its creator. And, nevertheless, Skynet was not completely sure of the correctness of creating such a powerful unit, completely autonomous and possessing free will. In addition, it should be noted that the T-1000's thinking was so unusual that eight hundred people could hardly understand it. The concept of cause and effect was insignificant for this robot, he could think in several planes at once. He calculated several possible trajectories of the pursued target and stubbornly followed one of them, without stopping to study the rest. Environmental analysis is done in a dozen ways across the entire surface of the body. Also, the T-1000 can read information from magnetic media by direct contact.

Self-awareness

Terminators 1000 series are capable of making independent decisions. In order to protect itself from its creation, Skynet never launched mass production of the T-1000.

Armament

The T-1000 is not equipped with any built-in weapons, but can give any shape to its limbs. To give his hand the shape of a weapon, he must first put it into a liquid state, leaving the rest of the body solid.

You fucked me up ... hubby

Hocus pocus. Now I'll turn it into a hand

He easily manages to recreate any piercing and cutting weapon: hooks, spears, blades, but he cannot copy complex mechanisms such as firearms, explosives or energy weapons, since they consist of moving parts and require other chemical elements or special fuel. Copying complex mechanisms is beyond its capabilities. In addition to creating melee weapons, the T-1000 can use any man-made weapon and control any equipment.

Advantages

Composed entirely of mimic polysplas, the 1000 Series Terminator is actually a huge piece of metal that conducts electricity. However, unlike its predecessors, the T-1000 calmly withstands high-voltage charges without shutting down. In the Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicle timeline, Katherine Weaver demonstrated this ability by incapacitating the T-888.

Haplyk kitten

With one hand, she pierced the chest armor plate of the terminator, and with the other, she closed the transformer circuits, allowing the current to pass freely through it and destroy the T-888.

Weaknesses

The T-1000 is very difficult to destroy in a combat encounter; some Resistance fighters consider him invulnerable. It is a very damage resistant unit, capable of operating over a wide range of temperatures, but nevertheless, it can be damaged and destroyed.

Extremely low temperatures around -196 degrees Celsius (like liquid nitrogen) can freeze the T-1000.

snowman

If, after freezing, the robot is broken into pieces, this can cause critical damage to its cloaking system and lead to glitches in its operation.

Oops ... sorry about the statue

A damaged T-1000 can, unexpectedly, against its will, begin to merge with the floor covering or with objects with which it comes into contact.

Glitches

In addition to ultra-low temperatures, corrosive substances such as concentrated hydrochloric acid can also cause damage. The Resistance also speculated that the T-1000's molecular structure becomes vulnerable to shockwaves when it forms a weapon or engages in combat. However, such damage can slightly slow down, but not stop the T-1000.

It is guaranteed to destroy the T-1000 by exposing it to ultra-high temperatures.

I'm melting ... i'm melting

Temperatures in excess of 1535 degrees Celsius, which is required to melt iron, can physically alter the bonds within the mimic polysilloy. Molten iron (or some other metal) can mix with the elements of the polysplash and change its molecular structure, which will lead to the complete destruction of the unit. Plasma weapons can also inflict critical damage to the T-1000. So, for example, in 2032, the T-1002 conducted tactical testing of the new infiltrator of the T-X series in close combat. First, with the help of a circular saw, T-X cut off all the peaks from the body of the T-1002, and then destroyed it with fire from a plasma cannon. The T-1002 (this is a modification capable of growing piercing-cutting weapons over the entire surface of its body) was unable to withstand direct hits from the T-X plasma gun due to the improved nature of the plasma used in its weapons, although hits from conventional plasma weapons did not inflict any serious damage.

Known Variants.

T-1001

In addition to the capabilities of the T-1000, the T-1001 can transform into a snake-like spindle-shaped form, allowing it to move at high speed through ventilation shafts, make high jumps, and move around the introductory environment.

In addition to searching for the bulk, the detached parts of the T-1001 can operate independently. One of the parts of Katherine Weaver (T-1001) depicted a domestic eel living in an aquarium. This part was the access key for activating the temporal displacement equipment.

The T-1001 is great for destroying multiple targets. The level of control over its structure allows this machine to create blades about 10 feet long and shoot them at a victim at a very high speed.

Series 1002

T-1002

The 1002 series terminators can grow piercing and cutting weapons across the entire surface of their bodies, which indicates an even higher level of control over their structure than their predecessors.

Series 1000000

T-1 and a lot of zeros

The T-1,000,000, also known as the T-Mega, was a giant arachnid version of the T-1000. He defended the central core of Skynet from attacks. Like its predecessor, it was created from a mimic polysplav, but unlike the T-1000, it was not capable of imitating other objects. It is able to maintain only its basic arachnid form and grow additional piercing and cutting weapons on each of its eight legs. It is known that T-1,000,000 was destroyed along with the central core of Skynet.

XA series
No picture
The T-XA series is an experimental autonomous terminator, is a further development of the concept of terminators from a mimicking polysplav. Like its predecessor, the T-1000, the T-XA is capable of mimicry, but at a more advanced level. In its basic form, T-HA is a humanoid, reaching 8 feet in height, however, when infiltrated, it can divide the entire mass into several units acting together (family of people, packs of dogs, cats). Can implant a part of himself into a person to control his behavior.

"Robot terminator" in translation means "liquidator". This is the general name for automatic combat devices that are serially created by the artificial intelligence of Skynet. The goal of all robotic mechanisms is the same - the destruction of humanity on Earth and in the Universe. But before starting the massacres on the planet, Skynet must first of all destroy its potential enemy, a man named John Connor, as he can interfere with a global action in order to raise an uprising and neutralize the terminators. This cannot be allowed, and Skynet sends from the future to the past the most prominent terminator T-800 with the task of killing John Connor, who was still a child at the time. Nobody even suspects what danger he faces.

The T-800 Terminator travels back in time to 1984 and finds a boy named John Connor. But the child has a mother, Sarah Connor, who must also die according to the plan of the Skynet processor. How everything happened, tells the first film by James Cameron called "The Terminator". The role of the killer robot is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

T-800 is a perfect machine for the destruction of all life, created by nanotechnology. Inside the device are titanium-based mechanical assemblies, heavy-duty hinges and servo drives that provide movements that are exactly human-like. The resemblance to people is completed by the outer shell, completely identical to the appearance of an unremarkable middle-aged man. The disguise is perfect, and this allows the terminator to merge with the human crowd and remain unrecognized.

Project to create liquidators

Terminators are based on technologies and developments of American scientific military structures, such as Cyberdine Systems, which creates microprocessors. All new developments entered the Skynet databank, and then T-series terminators were created on the basis of nanotechnology.

Achievements

The first models were advanced robots programmed to destroy people. But these terminators turned out to be vulnerable to mechanical impact, they could be broken, smashed, destroyed under pressure, burned in a fire. Therefore, Skynet worked on other technologies. The ultimate goal of these studies was to create a terminator that is not subject to mechanical damage.

The latest achievement of military scientists was the newly created model line of liquidators, which included devices made of liquid metal substances. These mechanisms are almost impossible to destroy, as they have the ability to quickly restore their structure. Any damage immediately heals and takes its previous shape.

Purpose and means

The first film about the terminators introduced the Cyberdyne Systems 101 from the 800 series. Arnold Schwarzenegger brilliantly played all his roles in the pentalogy. The previous ones - without epidermis, as well as hydrobots, motor-terminators, hunter-killers, perform their primary function by searching for objects and their direct destruction. In some cases, terminators ambush, but more often they go on the attack.

The more advanced, endowed with intelligence, of those that are already covered in a shell in the form of human skin, use the tactics of introducing into society, after which the search for a victim begins. So it was with the hunt for Sarah Connor in the 1984 film. Although the main target of destruction was her son, John Connor, the woman had to bear the brunt of the persecution.

Production by Alan Taylor

The plot of the fifth film "Terminator: Genisys" is based on the preparation of an attack on Skynet. This fantastic action movie was directed by Alan Taylor. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, and Korean actor Lee Byung Hun played the role of the T-1000 terminator in the fifth episode. The management of Paramount Pictures intended to make the fifth episode the conditional start of a new trilogy. Genisys stands for Generalized Information System.

Devastation

The film begins with information from Kyle Reeves, John Connor's best friend, that Skynet's vast network of military supercomputers has dealt a fatal blow to humanity. The whole world has turned into a desolate space, and the few survivors of the nuclear disaster have called what is happening doomsday. New terminator robots appeared that hunted people and systematically destroyed them.

Reese himself, born after the war, spent his childhood in the ruins near San Francisco. One day he stumbled upon a terminator and almost died, but he was saved by John Connor, the future leader of the world Resistance, a personality extremely mysterious, since it was not known where he had extensive knowledge about the terminators and how to fight them.

Skynet processor end

The war ended in 2029. A Tech-Com sergeant, having already become friends with John Connor, volunteered to participate in the storming of the Skynet Central Hub. However, he was asked to take part in the attack on the Los Angeles complex. As a result of coordinated assaults, Skynet was destroyed, but at the last moment its computers start a time machine, which again teleports to the past of the T-800 terminator in order to destroy Sarah Connor, John's mother.

Next comes the T-1000, played by Lee Byung Hun. The attack on a woman was noted in the 1984 programs. To counter this action, Kyle Reese is also sent to the past. "Terminator: Genisys" is a turning point film, the subsequent series are connected with it in meaning.

The T-1000 arrives in 1984 before Kyle Reeves and appears before him as a police officer. During the pursuit of Sarah and Kyle, the terminator falls into a trap specially set up for him, where he is destroyed by nitric acid. But before that, there are many events, one way or another connected with John Connor and his mother.

The film reminds that the terminator T-1000 once pursued Sarah - in 1973, but then, by an illogical coincidence, the T-800 saved her. The woman's parents were killed. How then the terminators got into the past is not specified in the film. The exact chronology of events is not so important, since the periods of vigorous activity of the killer robots stretch over decades.

Liquidator or savior

In fact, the terminator is a superhero in a negative sense, in the first episodes he is presented as an uncompromising and soulless liquidator. Gradually, however, the killing machine softens, and in some films loyalty to humanity is already noticeable. The terminator robot is ready to destroy people, but at the same time it protects them from the invasion of machines. Perhaps this is a flaw in Skynet, or, on the contrary, part of the program embedded in the terminator.

Continuation

In 1991 the film "Terminator 2" was released, in which a completely new version of the terminators created by the Skynet system was presented. Technology did not allow robots to be programmed, so they worked in a self-learning format, had a certain intelligence, and this forced them sometimes to go over to the side of people. By doing so, the terminators violated the basic principles of their existence, they stopped destroying humanity. The film "Terminator 2" marked the beginning of a whole series of stories about invincible liquid metal killers. People were frantically looking for ways to fight the aliens, and soon the first results of these searches began to appear, so far only theoretical.

Characters and their incarnation

The main roles of "Terminator 2: Doomsday" are distributed as follows:

  • Terminator T-800 - Arnold Schwarzenegger.
  • Sarah Connor -
  • Terminator T-1000 - actor Robert Patrick.
  • John Connor -
  • Adult John Connor - played by Michael Edwards.

Unexpected intercessor

American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger successfully plays the role of the T-800 terminator, who, after a series of adventures, begins to protect Sarah Connor. He has to endure a difficult confrontation with his analogue T-1000, played by Hollywood actor Robert Patrick. The new generation Terminator in his performance gives the impression of a deadly machine in human form that cannot be defeated. But for all the apparent power, there was one weak link.

Confrontation

The creation of the T-1000 character was caused by the need to maximize the role of the new generation of terminators against the background of the emerging loyalty to people from the T-800 and T-600 series devices. New designs required a relative balance between legacy models and the latest versions. Therefore, the creation of the character of the invincible T-1000 was quite natural and logical from the point of view of the development of the plot. The image was invented by the scriptwriters in view of the further exciting and merciless struggle.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

This is the second film about intelligent liquidators created by Skynet.
Model T-1000 - a terminator that exists in a single copy, comes from the future with the aim of destroying John Connor. But the terminator of the previous model, the outdated T-800, stands up to protect the young man. There is a collision of two technologies with an unpredictable ending.

T-1000, the latest generation terminator, is made of polysplav according to the most advanced nanotechnology. The liquid metal basis of the mechanism is radically different from the previous metal structure with an endoskeleton. Now the T-1000 model is a terminator with a monolithic and homogeneous structure, it has no mechanical joints, moving parts. No rods, hinges or springs.

T-1000 is a terminator that does not lend itself to mechanical destruction, since after all damage it instantly regains its previous shape. If any fragment is lost irretrievably, all other parts generate the missing part within a few seconds.

Invulnerability

The combat vehicle terminator 2 T-1000 is so perfect that it would seem that any means are powerless against this device. The use of firearms is pointless, since the bullets pass through the liquid metal matter as through oil, without even leaving a trace. The explosion of a powerful TNT charge can tear the robot apart, but after a second, the fragments, scattered tens of meters, will rejoin.

The only weapon capable of slowing down the T-1000's reaction for a few moments and causing its temporary paralysis is a large-caliber weapon if it goes off in the very middle of the terminator's chest. But the fact is that this charge cannot explode inside the T-1000 in any way, it will simply pass right through without delay and work somewhere far from the target. The film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" evokes a feeling of despair, so invulnerable is the deadly liquid metal guest from the future. He cannot even be resisted by robots, the same as him, but created using different technologies.

Transformation

Terminator 2 T-1000 has no vital centers, which means it cannot be hit or destroyed. In addition, the active combat capability of the device is beyond reason. T-1000 can change its chemical formula and become liquid or diamond solid. Able to modify, seep through any obstacles, holes, cracks. Possesses the property of mimicry, easily changes color and its color in half tones. Its limbs, if necessary, turn into blades, hooks, lances or rapiers.

The T-1000 possesses superhuman strength, with one movement the terminator can destroy a three-story building, and special efforts are not required to kill a defenseless person. This is what the creators of killer robots are counting on, their goal is the mass destruction of people around the world. And because Skynet improves the already created models and develops new ones.

Transformations

A high degree of plasticity allows the T-1000 terminator to gain special opportunities for integration into the human community. Unlike its predecessors, the T-800 and T-600 models with a standard appearance, which can only change the voice, the new liquidator has the ability to completely copy the appearance of any person to the smallest detail. To do this, the T-1000 terminator needs to establish direct contact with the object and spend about an hour with it.

The end of the invincible T-1000

In general, the last generation terminator, immune to external influences, turned out to be unstable to thermal extremes and began to lose stability from extremely low, and then very high temperatures. At the same time, its functions were radically violated, and, thus, a weak point in the design was revealed. In addition to high temperatures, liquid nitrogen acted negatively on the T-1000, forcing it to change color. The Terminator was eventually destroyed in a molten metal tank during his fight against the T-800 in a steel mill.
