The history of the channel "My Joy" dates back to long before the official airing.

About the feast of the Holy Epiphany

The Epiphany is called a holiday because at the Baptism of the Lord the Most Holy Trinity appeared to the world (Matt. 3, 13 - 17; Mark 1, 9 - 11; Luke 3, 21 - 22). God the Father spoke from heaven about the Son, the Son was baptized by the holy Forerunner of the Lord John, and the Holy Spirit descended on the Son in the form of a dove. Since ancient times, this holiday has been called the day of Enlightenment and the holiday of Lights, because God is Light and appeared to enlighten "those who sit in darkness and the shadow of deaths" (Matthew 4:16) and to save the fallen human race by grace.

In the ancient Church there was a custom to baptize the catechumens at the feast of the Epiphany, since Baptism is the spiritual enlightenment of people.

The beginning of the feast of the Epiphany dates back to apostolic times. He is mentioned in the Apostolic ordinances. The testimony of St. Clement of Alexandria about the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord and the night vigil before this holiday has been preserved from the 2nd century.

In the third century, on the feast of the Epiphany, conversations between the holy martyr Hippolytus and St. Gregory the Wonderworker are known. In the following centuries - from the 4th to the 9th century - all the great Fathers of the Church - Gregory the Theologian, John Chrysostom, Ambrose of Mediolansky, John Damascene - held special talks about the feast of the Epiphany. Saints Joseph the Studite, Theophanes and Byzantium wrote many hymns for this feast, which are sung even now during Divine services. The Monk John Damascene said that the Lord was baptized not because He Himself had a need for cleansing, but in order to "bury human sin with waters," to fulfill the law, to reveal the sacrament of the Holy Trinity and, finally, to sanctify the "watery nature" and set us an image and example Baptisms.

The Holy Church on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord affirms our faith in the highest, incomprehensible mystery of the Three Persons of the One God and teaches us to equally confess and glorify the Holy Trinity, Consubstantial and Inseparable; denounces and destroys the delusions of the ancient false teachers who tried to embrace the Creator of the world with their thought and human word.
