Bubbles pattern, puffs on knitting needles - 4 ways

The trend of recent years is textured knitted textures. These include the pattern on the knitting needles with puffs or bubbles. The knitting is voluminous, looks stylish and modern. In fashion magazines there are quite a lot of models knitted in this way. These are hats, sweaters, cardigans. But not only. Also pillows, bags and blankets. The pattern can often be found for knitting children's clothes. There are 4 design options. We will analyze them all sequentially.

How to knit the pattern Small bubbles

The pattern of volumetric bubbles is very simple. But despite this, the knitting looks impressive.

To knit, you need to cast on a number of loops that are a multiple of 4 + 3 loops for symmetry, + 2 edge loops.

1, 3, 7, 9, 12 rows: knit stitches.
2 and all even: purl stitches.
5 r.: *K3, then from the next p. count down 4 rows and knit a knit stitch from there, unravel the loops above it* - repeat until the end of the r., finish 3 knits.
11 p.: *Knit 1, from the next p. go down lower and knit stitches from there, unraveling the loops above it * - finish 1 knit.

Alternate from 1st to 12th.

In the photographs, look at the important sections of the puff pattern that need to be knitted correctly.

Knitting lessons “Bubbles”

With the help of a beautiful pattern, you can knit a truly stylish and original thing. Today we will talk about one of the most unusual patterns, called “Bubbles” or “Puffs”.

Learning to knit the “Bubbles” pattern

How does this pattern differ from others and how to knit it? You will learn about this, as well as many other things, by reading our small master class.

In order to knit the “Bubbles” pattern with your own hands you will need:

Let’s start knitting “Bubbles”:

  1. Cast on loops so that their number is a multiple of 6, add another 5 stitches for symmetry of the pattern, and then add 2 edge stitches;
  2. Rapport in this motive = 12 rubles;
  3. The first, as well as all subsequent odd rows, are knitted from the wrong side, and even rows from the front side;
  4. First 5 rubles make face stitch;
  5. The sixth row is knitted from faces. sides: we simply throw the edge over, make 2 knit stitches, remove the loop from the left knitting needle, unravel it by 5 r. down. Then, picking up the loop, we leave the threads over the working tool and form a knit stitch. We perform another 5 knit stitches. Again, remove the loop and unravel it down 5 p. row. End of row: knit 2 + chrome. p., which we do purlwise;
  6. We knit the next 5 r. faces.stitch;
  7. When forming 12 r. the “Bubbles” shift. So that the pattern “goes” in a checkerboard pattern;
  8. First, remove the edge, then perform 5 stitches. Remove the loop, unravel it (down 5 rows). After this, we pick up the loop with knitting needles to immediately knit it.;
  9. We continue to work strictly according to the plan. At the end, we perform 5 knit stitches, after which we throw over the edge stitch;
  10. By knitting the required number of rows using this simple pattern, you will get the “Bubbles” pattern. Such “Bubbles” are called large and, as you have probably already noticed, knitting them is not at all difficult. The main thing is to maintain a certain sequence and not forget about the need to create this motif in a checkerboard pattern.

Video: Knitting the “Large Bubbles” pattern

However, there is another type of “Buffs”. And now we will talk about how to learn how to knit such “Bubbles”:

  1. Collect several rapports. At the same time, take into account the fact that 1 rapport = 4 p.;
  2. Add another 3 stitches for symmetry, don’t forget to add 2 edge stitches;
  3. Knit 4 rows in stockinette stitch;
  4. At 5 p.m. in accordance with the diagram, unravel the loops, then, picking up the unraveling, make a knit stitch;
  5. Continue working on the schematic drawing.

Having formed the required number of rows with knitting needles, you can admire the original motif you have created:

Separately, it is worth noting the fact that such convex “Puffs” can be not only one-color, but also two-color. Moreover, in the second case they look even more interesting and stylish.

If you want to learn how to knit bright two-color “Buffs”, you can watch a short video clip, which tells in some detail about the technique of creating such magical “Bubbles”.

Knitting is carried out strictly according to a schematic pattern, so when mastering a new technique you should not have any difficulties.

Knitting Bubbles pattern: diagram and description

Nowadays, knitters have a huge selection of patterns to choose from. With the help of a beautiful pattern, you can turn even a simple thing into an original and stylish one. After all, everyone wants to create something truly exclusive. Among the large selection of patterns, you can find the one that suits best. Knitting a sweater or dress with a beautiful pattern - what could be better for a product, because you will breathe life into it. Structural patterns differ from each other, and each is magnificent in its own way, but if you settled on the bubble knitting pattern, it is suggested that you first practice knitting it on a sample. This relief pattern also goes by the second name “Buffs”.

The number of loops should be a multiple of 4 + 1 loop for balance and 2 edge loops.

Important: work on the pattern of small bubbles with knitting needles begins with a purl row.

1st row: purl loops.

Row 2: knit stitches

Rows 3-5: stockinette stitch

6th row: 1 edge, knit 2, * remove the loop on the left, unravel 4 rows down, knit it with the front one, knit 3 *, repeat **, knit 2, 1 edge.

Rows 7-11: stockinette stitch.

Row 12: 1 edge, * remove the loop on the left, unravel it 4 rows down, knit it knit 3*, repeat **, at the end remove the penultimate loop from the knitting needle, unravel it 5 rows down and knit it knit, 1 edge

The pattern repeat is 12 rows.

This way you will knit a pattern of small bubbles. But if you want to get larger bubbles, then you need to increase the width of the repeat to 6 loops.

Using this pattern you will get a voluminous jacket or sweater, and you can also knit a beautiful cardigan with small bubbles pattern.

Knitting patterns: video, diagrams, description

The “Puffs” or “Bubbles” pattern can be knitted using yarn of one or more colors. In order to more clearly demonstrate the knitting technology, we will knit such a pattern from turquoise and yellow yarn.

The number of loops is a multiple of 4 + 2 edge loops.

We knit the first and second rows with turquoise thread.

Row 1: knit all stitches.

Row 2: purl all stitches.

We knit the next 4 rows (from 3rd to 6th) with yellow thread.

3rd row: edge, * 3 knit stitches, yarn over, remove the loop from the left knitting needle, without knitting, onto the right knitting needle *, edge.

4th row: edge stitch, *yarn over, yarn over and unknitted turquoise loop from the left knitting needle to the right one, without knitting, purl 3 loops, * edge loop.

5th row: edge loop, * 3 knit stitches, yarn over, 2 yarn overs and an unknitted turquoise loop from the left knitting needle, without knitting, onto the right knitting needle *, edge stitch.

6th row: edge stitch, *yarn over, 3 yarn overs and unknitted turquoise loop from the left knitting needle to the right one, without knitting, purl 3 loops, * edge loop,

We knit the next 2 rows (7 – 8) with turquoise thread.

Row 7: edge stitch, * knit 3, knit together 4 yarn overs and a turquoise knit stitch *, edge loop.

Row 8: purl all stitches.

We knit the next 4 rows (from 9th to 12th) with yellow thread.

Row 9: edge, * knit 1, yarn over, remove the loop from the left needle without knitting onto the right needle, knit 2 *, edge.

Row 10: edge, * purl 2, yarn over, yarn over and unknitted turquoise loop from the left knitting needle to the right without knitting, purl 1, * edge.

Row 11: edge, * knit 1, yarn over, remove the loop from the left needle, without knitting, onto the right needle, knit 2 *, edge.

Row 12: edge, * purl 2, yarn over, yarn over and unknitted turquoise loop from the left knitting needle to the right without knitting, purl 1, * edge.

We knit the next 2 rows (13 - 14) with turquoise thread.

Row 13: edge, * knit 1, knit together 4 yarn overs and a turquoise knit stitch, knit 2 *, edge.

Row 14: purl all stitches.

Repeat from the 3rd to the 14th row.

Scheme of the "Puffs" pattern:

There is another way to knit such patterns. I'll write a little about him. With this method, you do not make yarn overs, but knit one loop in this place in four rows (for example, from the 3rd to the 6th), and in the seventh row, unravel this loop to the 3rd row and knit a loop from the second row of the front one, thereby, as it were, tightening the canvas. This method seemed more complicated to me, because... You need to unravel the loops very carefully so as not to unravel the excess ones. Perhaps some will find it easier this way. Try it!

Pattern "Bubbles" or "Puffs" with knitting needles

Unusual “bubble” pattern. Looks beautiful from the front and back.

Buffs are the finishing of clothing made using stitches that secure the fabric in the form of volumetric gathers (a kind of drapery)

To make the pattern beautiful and neat, practice on a sample first.

The number of loops in this pattern should be a multiple of 4 + 1 loop and 2 edge loops.

Important: work on the pattern begins with the purl row.

Row 6: 1 chrome, knit 2, * remove the loop on the left, loosen 4 rows down, knit it, knit 3*, repeat **, 2 knits, 1 chrome.

You get small bubbles. If you want to increase the size of the pattern, then increase the width of the repeat to 6 loops.

Volumetric patterns with knitting needles - 16 options

To knit an interesting, stylish item, it is not at all necessary to master complex knitting techniques. There are patterns that are simple in technique, but very effective in the end. These are three-dimensional patterns with knitting needles. As a rule, such patterns are made with one thread color, otherwise all the beauty of the canvas will be lost. Threads for work should be of medium thickness or thick so that the pattern becomes more prominent. We offer you some options for such patterns with diagrams and descriptions.

The following designations are used in the descriptions:

  • LR – front row;
  • IR – purl row;
  • R – rapport.

Volumetric knitting pattern “Waves”

This heavy, dense pattern is suitable for winter women's and men's sweaters, snoods and hats.

We knit according to the pattern, it shows all the rows.

Horizontal R is equal to 9 p., vertical - from 1 p. 13 rub. The first row of the pattern is purl and is done purl-wise. loops. All odd r. patterns are purl, even patterns are knit.

"Scales" pattern

The three-dimensional structure of the pattern imitates fish scales or crocodile skin. This unusual and fashionable pattern can be used to knit both small items such as snoods and hats, and large items such as cardigans and coats.

Let's look at a step-by-step description of knitting. We start with a set of loops. Their number must be a multiple of 8 plus 2 chrome. In the further description, edge pins are not indicated. Repeated fragments of the pattern are indicated in the description *-*. Operating procedure:

  • 2p.: we knit all stitches k/p with double wrapping (= when knitting each stitch we wrap the knitting needle with working thread twice).
  • 3rd row: knit all stitches k/p, lowering the made turns onto the sp. – we get elongated sts.
  • 6r.: like 2r.;
  • 7r.: like 3r.;
  • 8p.: like 4p., but mirrored - * from 1p. knit 7 p. (=1l.+ 1n.+1l.+1n.+1l.+1n.+1l.), from 7p. knit 1 p/n*.

From the inside out the canvas looks like this.

To continue, repeat the algorithm from 1p.

Pattern “Puffs”: MK video

Transverse waves

The pattern is primarily suitable for knitting scarves and hats.

To obtain a drawing from 1p. 4 rubles each we knit garter stitch.

At 5 p.m. from each 1p. we knit 2l. (behind the front and behind the back wall), doubling the number of stitches.

From 6 rub. 18 rub. we knit the front stitch.

At 19 p.m. every 2p. knit in 1 p., returning to the initial number of p.

Pattern “Puffs” (“Bubbles”)

This pattern is often called “puffs”, “bubbles”, and “pimples”, thanks to the associations it evokes. To me, it somewhat reminds me of quilted fabric, like quilts or jackets.

The application of this pattern is very wide. They can knit jackets, jackets, vests, warm skirts, children's blankets, and even hats...

The resulting pattern is completely stockinette stitch, thanks to knitting certain loops in a special way in a checkerboard pattern.

However, let's take a closer look at how to knit the Bufa pattern.

The number of loops should be a multiple of 4, +3 loops for symmetry, +2 edge loops. Rapport consists of 4 loops and 12 rows. For the sample, we cast on, for example, 25 loops.

The first 4 rows need to be knitted in stockinette stitch, that is: 1st and 3rd rows– facial loops, 2nd and 4th rows- purl loops.

5th row: after the edge knit 3, then, ATTENTION: go down 3 rows below the next loop and insert the right knitting needle into the underlying loop of the 4th row:

We knit a loop from this loop, picking up the thread from behind, and boldly discard the loop that was on the left knitting needle. The loops that lie above the knitted one need to be unraveled. To do this, just pull them lightly to the left with your left hand:

6th row: All loops are purl. We seem to consolidate the previous row with them:

In the 11th row, the knitting principle will be the same as in the 5th row, but now you will need to knit the loops from the bottom row in a checkerboard pattern.

11th row: after the edge knit 1, then *knit a loop from the 4th loop down from the loop on the left knitting needle, knit 3* - repeat the combination until the last 3 loops of the row. At the end of the row: 1 loop from the bottom row, 1 front, edge.

Bubble: knit six loops in the purl (even) row with purl loops, then turn the knitting to the front side and knit six rows of the front stitch on top of these loops, while the first edge should be removed, and the outermost edge in the front row should be knitted with a front loop, in the purl row with a purl loop. When the last purl row of six rows of stockinette stitch is knitted, you need to continue knitting the pattern according to the pattern;

Thread of a different color.

Scheme of the "Bubbles" pattern

Scheme 1 - “Bubbles” pattern

The “Bubbles” pattern according to this pattern will be more convenient to knit with a circular fabric, since all rows in the pattern will become knit. When knitting straight fabric with edges, even (purl) rows should be read in the pattern from left to right, and you should also pay attention to the fact that in the front and back rows the same icons indicate different knitting of loops.

To knit straight fabric, you should cast on the knitting needles the number of loops that are a multiple of 12, plus two loops and two more edge loops. The pattern repeat is 16 rows and 12 loops in each row. To knit a circular fabric on knitting needles, the number of loops should be a multiple of 12.

To obtain a two-color pattern, it is necessary to knit the back row with bubbles and the next front row with a thread of a contrasting color; in the diagram, these rows are marked with the letter A (Figure 2).

Figure 2 - “Bubbles” pattern

This pattern is very voluminous, holds its shape well, that is, the bubbles do not fall through to the wrong side. Hats knitted in a circle with this pattern will look great and please the eye. You can also knit the ankles of your socks with two-color bubbles.

Description of the "Bubbles" pattern

Knit the edge loops as usual, remove the first one, knit the outermost edge loop with a purl loop.

1st row, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th knit in garter stitch, that is, with knit stitches.

6th row: edge, purl 1, * bubble, purl 6 *, repeat from * to *, purl 1, edge.

7th row: all knit stitches.

8th row: purl all stitches.

Row 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 are knitted in garter stitch, that is, with knit stitches.

14th row: edge, purl 1, * purl 6, bubble *, repeat from * to *, purl 1, edge.

15th row: all facial loops.

16th row: purl all stitches.

Repeat the pattern from the 1st to the 16th row as many times as necessary.

With the help of a beautiful pattern, you can knit a truly stylish and original thing. Today we will talk about one of the most unusual patterns, called “Bubbles” or “Puffs”.

How does this pattern differ from others and how to knit it? You will learn about this, as well as many other things, by reading our small master class.

In order to knit the “Bubbles” pattern with your own hands you will need:

  • knitting needles;
  • threads;
  • scheme.

Let’s start knitting “Bubbles”:

Video: Knitting the “Large Bubbles” pattern

However, there is another type of “Buffs”. And now we will talk about how to learn how to knit such “Bubbles”:

  1. Collect several rapports. At the same time, take into account the fact that 1 rapport = 4 p.;
  2. Add another 3 stitches for symmetry, don’t forget to add 2 edge stitches;
  3. Knit 4 rows in stockinette stitch;
  4. At 5 p.m. in accordance with the diagram, unravel the loops, then, picking up the unraveling, make a knit stitch;

Go down 4 rows.

Knit a knit stitch through this loop.

Just in case, here is a knitting pattern:

Video lesson:

Description of colored buffs

If a monochromatic puff pattern is knitted only according to one pattern, then there are several colored patterns. Let's get acquainted with both.

In order for yarn of different colors to lay beautifully, you need to knit the loop four rows below in a different way. Look at the diagram:

first two r. - basic, knit them once, then repeat from 3 to 14 r.

Explanations on how to tie persons.p. in the lower river in a two-color pattern there are small bubbles (buffs):

  • slip a stitch from the left needle and undo 3 more under it.
  • catch the green st with your right knitting needle (for clarity, I will call it a color, as in the photo). Insert the needle through the loop to the wrong side, pick up the working thread from the wrong side and knit stitches.

Alternating colors:
1st and 2nd row: green color. (basic).
3 - 6 rubles: white;
7th and 8th: green;
9 - 12 rubles: white;
13 and 14 rubles: green color.

Video master class from Lyudmila:

Multi-colored puffs (bubbles) on the leg

1 - 6 rubles: ;
7 r.: *Knit 3, count 4 r. down and knit stitches from there, open the loops above it * - finish 3 knits.
8 r.: purl.p.
9 - 12 p.: persons. smooth surface;
13 r.: * 1 knit, then knit from 4 r. below* - at the end of 1 persons.
14 r.: purl sts.
15 - 18 p.: persons. Ch.

Repeat from 7 to 18 r.

Round

To avoid seams when or, you can also use a puff pattern. For this purpose, purl all r. knit with knit stitches, the remaining rows - strictly follow the description.

That's all! I hope you also fell in love with this voluminous pattern - puffs, bubbles, bubbles, bubbles, whatever they are called.
Save it in your piggy bank, it will come in handy. Write comments. Your Tatushka.

Double winter hat.

Yarn: pink Alize Lana Gold fine wool/acrylic, 100g/390m.

Gray Merino de Lux wool/acrylic, 100gr/280m

Knitting needles No. 3, hook No. 2.5

The hat is knitted for size 52-54. Therefore, if you need to knit a smaller or larger size, then, accordingly, cast on fewer or more loops.

Due to the difference in yarn thickness, the “bubbles” will be convex.

Bottom cap (lining).

We crochet the bottom of the hat with a diameter of (52/3.14)-1=15.5 (calculation formula (OG/3.14)-1), then we stop adding and knit the hat to the desired depth (height) 52/3 +2 = 19 (formula OG/3+2).

Top cap

We knit a sample according to the pattern and calculate how many cm there are in 10 loops for 10 rows.

For size 52-54 there were 123 loops.

We cast on 123 loops on the knitting needles (the number of loops in the pattern should be a multiple of 4 +3 loops for symmetry), knit 4 rows of stockinette stitch with pink thread - preparatory rows.

The number of loops is a multiple of 4 plus 3 for symmetry (we have 123 loops).

K5B - remove a stitch from the left needle and unravel it 4 rows down. Insert the tip of the right knitting needle under the dropped pieces into the loop of the 5th row. Bring the right knitting needle under the lowered segments, knit a knit stitch together with the segments.

From 1st to 4th row: persons. smooth surface (gray color)

5th row: add pink thread - k3, *K5B, k3, K5B*, k3. Repeat from *to*.

6th row: purl loops (pink thread according to the pattern).

11th row with pink thread: k1, *K5B, k3, K5B*, k1. Repeat from *to*.

12th row: purl according to the pattern. Repeat from rows 1 to 12.

Knit 3 knit stitches

remove the 4th loop from the left needle and unravel it 4 rows down

Insert the tip of the right knitting needle under the dropped pieces into the loop of the 5th row

Place the right knitting needle under the dropped pieces, knit a knit stitch along with the pieces

We knit according to the pattern until the end of the row

We return back with a purl row (purl loops).

We ended up with this row:

From 7th to 10th row: persons. smooth surface (gray color).

11th row with pink thread: k1, *K5B, k3, K5B*, k1.

It turns out that the “bubbles” are arranged in a checkerboard pattern:

12th row: purl according to the pattern.

We get the pattern:

We knit the fabric of the required height = the depth of the cap.

Having knitted the fabric, we do not close it, but use the thread we knit with to collect the loops:

Sew along the short side. The top hat is ready!

Then we crochet the elastic from the inside out using embossed stitches with one crochet 1x1 (alternating 1 simple stitch, 1 raised stitch).

If you wish, you can tie the ears with ties, you will get a hat like this:

Pompon

We make 2 semicircles of the size we need, in my case I have a pompom with a diameter of 5 cm, so the width of the cardboards is 2.5 cm.

We lay a thread between 2 cardboards and evenly wind them in layers (loosely) onto the cardboards (in layers if you have several colors). It turns out to be a “sausage”, then carefully cut it, inserting scissors between the cardboards. Hold tightly so that the threads do not jump out!

When you cut it, pull it tightly with a thread that was laid between the cardboards (it’s better to ask for help, it’s very difficult to make it tight with just one). The pompom is ready, now you need to “trim” any unevenness, if any.

Attach the pompom to the hat. The hat is ready!

12th row: purl loops.

13th row: repeat the pattern from the 1st row.

This is the three-dimensional pattern that results:

And from the reverse side it looks good too:

For greater clarity, I also provide a diagram of this pattern:

The pattern looks no less interesting if you make it two-color. How to alternate the color of the thread for this, see the diagram:

That's all for today. Arinika was with you. See you again!
