I. Organizational moment. Announcement of the topic of the lesson, goals, epigraph.

- Hello, sit down.

- Today we are conducting a lesson, the topic of which is “Comparative characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin. The theme of honor, courage and nobility on the example of the development of the character of Peter Grinev. " Open your literature notebook and write down today's date and topic. As an epigraph for our today's lesson, I took the proverb "Take care of honor from your youth", which became the epigraph of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's work "The Captain's Daughter".

- In today's lesson we will try to generalize, systematize knowledge in the image of Peter Grinev, in the course of work to see the changes that occur in the hero's soul under the influence of meetings with different people.

II. Introductory speech of the teacher.

170 years ago, A.S. Pushkin, an idea arose for the story ... "The Captain's Daughter" by A. Pushkin was completed on October 19, 1836, three months before the tragic death of the poet. The last great work, written for three years ... Naturally, you need to treat it more attentively, take a closer look at its heroes, try to understand its "super task", its meaning.

In March 1833, while working on the history of the Pugachev revolt, Pushkin, among the archival documents, finds investigative materials on the case of a young officer taken prisoner by Pugachev and pardoned by him. Almost incredible, but at the same time reliable events surpassed any fictional fiction.

Pushkin enters into all the details of the officer's fate, already loving him as his hero.

Pushkin plans to write the work in the fall, but at the beginning of August he writes a preface to it. This preface will then be rejected by the author himself, and "The Captain's Daughter" will begin immediately from the first chapter.

The preface is remarkable if only in that it contains that unique intonation, which is, perhaps, the main charm of The Captain's Daughter. The father tells the story of his life to his son, apparently a boy of about ten. “My dear friend, Petrusha!” - the story begins with these words. Not an edifying lesson, but a home tradition.

So, on Friday, August 4, 1833, Pushkin sketches out a draft of the preface. It seems that the correct definitions of the truly wonderful qualities of the heroes have been found. But Pushkin suddenly sees that both the aversion to the low, and the fear of causing misfortune are a consequence of some more important and all-encompassing qualities. On August 5, the author returns to the manuscript and makes corrections: "... you will keep in your heart ... the wonderful qualities that I noticed in you: kindness and nobility."

The foreword becomes a blessing for heroes who set off on a long journey towards the unknown. Their cute images have not yet settled on paper, but they have already settled in the soul. Many more months will pass before the story moves like a spring river. And then the captain's daughter, dear Masha Mironova, the ardent and desperate Pyotr Grinev, the tirelessly caring Arkhip Savelyevich, whom at first, in drafts, Pushkin called Stepan, will forever enter our hearts.

And the lights of the Belogorsk fortress, where the good old Mironovs are waiting for us, will forever be seen in the blizzard. Where no one is afraid of any "adversaries", but Ivan Ignatyevich cleans a cast-iron cannon for order ... After finishing work, the old lieutenant sits down on last year's withered grass and, smiling, peers into the road ... "Happy journey and God forbid you! .."

The short preface to The Captain's Daughter is worth remembering not only by literary scholars: apart from purely artistic merits and details necessary to understand the story, it contains something very important for us, readers. Obviously, this is the moral firmness of Pushkin's storyteller, the confidence in distinguishing between good and evil.

III. Discussion of the read.

- Who is the narrator in the story of A.S. Pushkin's "Captain's Daughter"?(Pyotr Andreevich Grinev.)

- How does the narrator appear at the very beginning of the story?(Not big. Petrusha Grinev loafs around, climbs the dovecote, treats his studies with disdain. Mamma pampers him. - Remember the description of this hero, later in the literature we will meet a similar hero in the comedy of D.I.

Young, inexperienced and naive, he passionately wants to grow up, but for this he often chooses the wrong ways: playing billiards, drunkenness, insolence with Savelich. But at heart he is kind and ashamed of the bad deeds that he does out of inexperience.)

- One of the tasks of our today's lesson is to trace the formation of the character of the protagonist. Let's remember how the growing up of the hero began. When, from what moment did the fate of Petrusha change? What events, people influenced the fate of Grinev. As a result of what, from Petrusha, he becomes Pyotr Andreevich Grinev?

- So, when, from what moment did the fate of Petrusha change?(From the moment when his father decided to send him to military service.)

- What words does the father say to his son, which later became key not only in this story, but in literature in general?("Farewell, son. Serve faithfully to whom you swear; obey your superiors; do not chase after their affection; do not ask for service; do not excuse yourself from service; and remember the proverb: take care of your dress in a dream, and honor when you are young." episode from the novel by Leo Tolstoy "War and Peace", the departure of Andrei Bolkonsky to the war.)

- How do you understand the words of your father?(He speaks of duty, honor, nobility, fidelity to the word.)

- How did Petrusha start his independent life?(From a game of billiards, losing a hundred rubles to Zurin.)

- Why do travelers fall into a blizzard, who saves them?(Because of the stubbornness of Petrusha, youthful maximalism. Saves the counselor, who points the way.)

- How did Petrusha thank his savior?(I gave him a sheepskin coat.)

- How did Savelich feel about Grinev's actions?(He was dissatisfied, indignant at the loss, grumbles and objects; he believed that Petrusha did not give an account of his actions.)

- How do you assess the behavior of Pyotr Andreyevich?(He behaved wrongly with Savelich, but it is the duty of an honest man to be responsible for his actions, so he did the right thing, that he gave a debt to Zurin, and bestowed a sheepskin coat on the savior.)

- Remember these milestones in the formation of Peter Grinev. A little later, we will build a scheme for the development of the character of the protagonist. And another hero of the story will help us better understand Petrusha. What do you think?(That's right, Alexey Ivanovich Shvabrin.)

- What do you learn about Shvabrin and from whom?(From Vasilisa Yegorovna. Shvabrin was transferred to the Belogorsk fortress for a duel. He caused the death of a person.)

IV. Drawing up a table "Comparative characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin".

- To better understand the character of the protagonist, we will compile a comparative table of the actions of Grinev and Shvabrin, which we will fill in during the discussion. Let's see how the actions of one and the other correlate with the concepts of honor, courage and nobility.

- What can we single out in common between Grinev and Shvabrin?(Both noblemen, officers, serve in the Belogorsk fortress, are in love with Masha Mironova.)

Comparative characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin

General. Both noblemen, officers, serve in the Belogorsk fortress, are in love with Masha Mironova.

Comparison criterion

Grinev

Shvabrin

1. Attitude towards the family of Captain Mironov

1) - Let's start with what this fortress is like, is it what the hero imagined? How was the service in the fortress? Who was the real commander in it? What atmosphere reigned in the family of Captain Mironov? In the garrison?(The Belogorsk fortress did not at all resemble a fortress in the full sense of the word. Most likely, it was a simple village. The commander can be called Vasilisa Yegorovna. A warm family atmosphere reigns in the Belogorsk fortress, soldiers and commanders treat each other with warmth, there is no officialdom. the fortress is like a big family. Peter fell in love with these people, wanting nothing else for himself.)

How was Petrusha received in the Mironov family?(Warmly, showed concern.)

- Pushkin writes with warmth and tenderness about the relations of these people, and here one of the most dear to Pushkin ideas is carried out - the idea of a family. Pay attention to the words of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky: "We have everything from Pushkin." Why did Dostoevsky say that? Because in Pushkin's work there are traditions that will subsequently develop in Russian literature of the 19th century. In particular, family thought will become one of the main thoughts in the work of L.N. Tolstoy, for example, in the epic novel War and Peace (the Bolkonsky and Rostov families).

- Which of the inhabitants of the fortress stands out sharply from the general circle? How?(Aleksey Ivanovich Shvabrin. He is the only one of the inhabitants of the fortress who speaks French, his conversation is sharp and entertaining. He was educated, served in St. Petersburg in the guards, was transferred to the Belogorsk fortress for a duel.)

- Why did Shvabrin, who initially liked Grinev, gradually began to arouse his rejection? (He speaks badly about the family of Captain Mironov, slanders Ivan Ignatyich, put Masha in a bad light. All these people became dear to Grinev, and it was unpleasant for him to hear bad things about them.)

Comparison criterion

Grinev

Shvabrin

2. Behavior in a duel

2) - What causes the duel? (Grinev composed a poem dedicated to Masha. He brings him to the court of Shvabrin, sincerely considering him his friends, expecting praise. But Shvabrin's dirty hints infuriated Grinev. He stood up for the honor of the girl, as he was ordered by the duty of a nobleman, a knight. Shvabrin, trying to turn Grinev away from Masha, achieves exactly the opposite - Petrusha looked at Masha in a new way. A conversation with Masha and her confession that Shvabrin wooed her, and she refused, finished the job - Peter fell in love.)

- How does Grinev behave during a duel?(Fights honestly, bravely, defending the honor of the girl.)

- How does Shvabrin act?(Deals a treacherous blow to the defenseless Grinev when he turned to Savelich's voice.)

- I would like to note that A.S. Pushkin does not give detailed characteristics to his heroes, we can judge the character by their actions.

3) - Now let's see an excerpt from the movie "The Captain's Daughter". Pay attention to how Grinev and Shvabrin behave.

Comparison criterion

4) - After being wounded, Masha takes care of Grinev, which brings them closer together. What is Grinev going to do? (Write a letter to parents, ask for their blessing for marriage with Masha.)

- What answer do they get?(Refusal.)

- How does Masha behave? Is she ready to fight for her love?(No. She believes that marriage will not bring them anything good without parental blessing. I am ready to part with Petrusha.)

- What is your attitude to Masha Shvabrin?(Describes Masha as a "complete fool", slanders her. With the arrival of Pugachev, he keeps him locked up, starving. And at the last moment he gives out to Pugachev.)

- How does Grinev behave after the suppression of the riot during the investigation?(He does not mention her name during the investigation, not wanting to involve Masha in the proceedings.)

5) - How does Grinev behave with Pugachev?(Grinev refuses to swear allegiance to the impostor: "Listen, I will tell you the whole truth. Judge, can I recognize the sovereign in you? You are a smart man: you yourself would see that I am cunning. I am a court nobleman; I swore allegiance to the empress: you will not serve you I can. If you really wish me well, then let me go to Orenburg. "

Noble Grinev honestly admits that he does not consider Pugachev a tsar. And Pugachev, an impostor, very menacingly declared: "I am a great sovereign ... So you do not believe that I was sovereign Peter Fedorovich?" Although the robber himself does not believe, in the author's opinion, in the success of his enterprise: this is also confirmed by the Kalmyk tale about the eagle: "It is better to drink living blood once, and then what God will give!" Before that, he said: “My street is narrow; will is not enough for me ... at the first failure they will redeem their neck with my head. " It seems to us that Pushkin sympathizes with Pugachev, a man who deceives people, but he himself understands this and is still very intolerant of liars: “And you dared to deceive me! Do you know, bum, what you deserve? " he says to Shvabrin.)

- How does Shvabrin behave with Pugachev?(This is a man for whom the concepts of honor and dignity do not exist. He is full of vanity, cowardice. There is nothing sacred for him. He denounces Grinev: he accuses him of collaborating with Pugachev, of betrayal. He breaks his oath and goes over to Pugachev's side in the Belogorsk fortress, Shvabrin prepared for treason in advance: immediately after the attack, we see him trimmed into a circle and in a Cossack caftan.)

In the life of every person there is an intersection of two roads, and at the crossroads there is a stone with the inscription: “If you go through life with honor, you will die. If you go against honor, you will live. " Pushkin's antihero has already made his choice. It was during the Pugachev rebellion that the baseness of feelings, dishonor, and spiritual nihilism of Shvabrin manifested themselves.

- What conclusion can we draw? (Grinev and Shvabrin are antipodes.)

V. Drawing up a diagram of the growing up of the protagonist.

- Now let's draw a diagram of the main character's growing up in notebooks.

- Where do you think you should start from?(Payment of debt for a loss, hereinafter - gratitude for salvation).

6) Self-sacrifice for the good name of Masha Mironova.

5) Risking his life to save Masha, does not leave Savelich in trouble.

4) Refusal to swear allegiance to the rebel.

3) A duel for the honor of the girl.

2) Thanks for the salvation.

1) Paying debt for a loss.

- So, we see that Grinev's character is given in development. And again we turn to the words of F.M. Dostoevsky: "We've got everything from Pushkin." The tradition of depicting a hero in development received a powerful continuation in Russian literature. The heroes of L.N. Tolstoy, with whom we will meet again, are depicted by the writer as always looking for their way, uncomfortable. This is Andrei Bolkonsky, Pierre Bezukhov. It was these who became the favorite heroes of the readers. And on the contrary, wanting to show the whole baseness of someone's soul, Tolstoy emphasized the immobility, the lack of spiritual development of the hero. In this we see the continuation of Pushkin's traditions.

Vi. Honor concept. Working with dictionaries.

- In today's lesson, we use the word "honor" quite often. It is in the epigraph, found in our conversation. How does young Petrusha Grinev understand the word “honor” at first? In order for us to understand this, let's find out the meaning of this word according to the dictionary of S.I. Ozhegov and the dictionary of V.I. Dahl.(The advance task was given to the students in advance. They figured out the meaning of the word using dictionaries.)

A matter of honor, a debt of honor.

The honor of the family, the honor of the uniform.

3. Chastity, integrity. Maiden honor.

4. Honor, respect. To give honor.

3. High rank, rank.

- In what meanings does Petrusha understand the word "honor" at the beginning of the novel? (In the fourth meaning in Ozhegov and in the second, third, fourth, fifth in Dahl.)

- We see that such a concept as honor is perceived by Petrusha Grinev superficially, he has not yet formed it.

- And at the end of the story?(Pyotr Andreevich Grinev is a fully formed personality with stable concepts and ideas about honor, nobility, courage.)

Vii. Homework survey.

- And what does “honor” mean in your understanding? (Homework from the previous lesson. Student responses.)

VIII. Closing remarks from the teacher. Summing up the lesson.

- Alexey Ivanovich Shvabrin is the complete opposite of Pyotr Andreyevich Grinev. Grinev will lie in the name of saving another person, but in other cases, even if it is unprofitable or even dangerous for him to be honest, he will not go against honor. When Petrusha lost a hundred rubles to Zurin, the "thrifty" Savelich advised Grinev to lie: "Write to this robber that we don't have that kind of money either." But Grinev refuses such advice: "It's enough to lie ..." And he always chooses honor and dignity between honor and deception. The young officer did not tarnish his honor even in those cases when it was easy to pay for it with his head.

In today's lesson, together with the characters from the story by A.S. Pushkin, we come to the conclusion that the most important thing for a person in all life circumstances is to maintain kindness and nobility. No wonder the author took the Russian proverb "Take care of honor from your youth!" As an epigraph to his story. You have proved that Grinev's nobility manifested itself in the fulfillment of duty, in his honesty and devotion, in respect for his beloved girl, in responsibility for her fate, in self-esteem.

And the whole story, like a confession, is addressed to the new generation, in it the narrator confesses his sins and gives himself up to the human judgment.

A.S. Pushkin the prose writer, Pushkin the psychologist encourages us to reflect on such issues as loyalty to a given word, disinterestedness in love and friendship, self-sacrifice, a sense of honor and self-worth. I think that after this lesson you will also think about these concepts. I really want to believe that when you grow up, you will be people of honor, duty, full of dignity.

"The Captain's Daughter" teaches us the ability to delve into what we have experienced ourselves, into the dignity of our own destiny - such as it has developed.

Russian thinker V. Rozanov said: “Love your fairy tale. The tale of my life. Everyone's life is a fairy tale, once told in this world. "

IX. Homework.

Prepare messages by groups:

Group 1 - "The Image of Pugachev in the story" The Captain's Daughter ".

Group 3 - "The Storyteller's Attitude to the People's War."

And in conclusion, I would like to address you with lines from an equally amazing work by A.S. Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin":

Whoever you are, oh my reader,

Friend, foe, I want with you

To part today as a friend.

Sorry. What would you follow me

Here I have not looked for careless stanzas,

The story "The Captain's Daughter", written in 1836 by Pushkin, is a logical continuation of the theme of "an insignificant hero", an ordinary person who cannot boast of great wealth, influence or serious connections. The main character is close to the people, has positive character traits, is kind, fair. The story is based on the uprising led by Pugachev, but Pushkin did not set himself the goal of recreating historical events, against their background he described the life stories of ordinary people.

General characteristics of Grinev

Pyotr Grinev comes from a noble family, but his parents are poor, so he grew up in an atmosphere of provincial-local life. The hero cannot boast of a good upbringing, he admits that he grew up undersized. Since his father was a retired military man, then Peter also became an officer. This is a conscientious, gentle, kind and fair young man who looks at everything through So scattered, and he understands how the world really works.

Thanks to moral intuition, even from the most difficult and dangerous situations, Peter Greenv comes out safe and sound. The characterization of the hero shows his rapid spiritual growth. The man was able to discern in Masha Mironova a moral personality and a pure soul, he had the courage to ask for forgiveness from the serf Savelich, Peter saw in Pugachev not just a rebel, but a just and magnanimous person, he realized how low and vile Shvabrin really is. Despite the terrible events that took place during the internecine struggle, Grinev managed to maintain his honor, humanity and loyalty to his ideals.

General characteristics of Shvabrin

The characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin allow the reader to figure out who is who in reality. Alexey Ivanovich is a nobleman by birth, he is lively, dark, not very handsome. At the time of Grinev's arrival at the Belgorod fortress, Shvabrin had served there for five years, he was transferred here for murder. Everything speaks of his meanness, arrogance and heartlessness. At the very first meeting with Peter, Alexey Ivanovich introduces him to the inhabitants of the fortress, speaking about everyone with contempt and derision.

Shvabrin is very smart and much more educated than Grinev, but there is no kindness in him. This character was compared by many to a tumbleweed, a man without family, who only knew how to adapt to different circumstances. Nobody loved him or waited for him, but he doesn't need anyone either. At the end of the story, Shvabrin's black hair turned gray after the excitement he had endured, but his soul remained black, envious and spiteful.

Grineva and Shvabrina

Each story must have an antagonist for the protagonist. If Pushkin had not created the image of Shvabrin, then the spiritual growth of Grinev would not have been so noticeable, moreover, the development of a love line between Mary and Peter would have been impossible. The writer contrasts everything with two young officers of noble origin. A brief description of Shvabrin and Grinev shows that they even ended up serving in the fortress for different reasons. Peter was sent here to serve by his father so that his son could smell real gunpowder and serve in the army. Alexei was exiled for the murder of the lieutenant.

Each of the heroes understands the expression "military duty" differently. Shvabrin doesn't care who he serves, as long as he feels good. During the time, Alexei immediately went over to the rebels, forgetting about the oath and honor. Grinev, on pain of death, refuses to swear allegiance to the rebels, but he was saved by natural kindness. The fact is that once he gave Pugachev a rabbit sheepskin coat and gave him a glass of wine, and he pays back with gratitude and saves Peter's life.

The captain's daughter became for the heroes. Grinev and Shvabrin fell in love with Masha, but their love is very different. Peter composes poems for the girl, and Alexey criticizes them, spreading them to smithereens. This is understandable, because he himself likes Maria, but how could a sincerely loving person put his beloved in a bad light and recommend that his rival give her earrings instead of poetry so that she would come out to him at dusk.

The relationship between Shvabrin and Maria

Alexei Ivanovich likes the captain's daughter, he looks after her, but when he is refused, he spreads dirty and false rumors about her. This person is not capable of sincere, kind and pure feelings, he only needs Masha as a beautiful doll that can be remade in his own way. The characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin show how different people are. Peter would never allow himself to slander or force his beloved to do anything.

Alexey is sneaky and cowardly, he acts in roundabout ways. In a duel, he wounded Grinev in the chest with a sword, then informed Peter's parents about the duel so that they would forbid their son to marry Maria. After going over to the side of Pugachev, Shvabrin uses his power, forcing the girl to become his wife. Even in the end, he cannot allow the happiness of Grinev and Mironova, therefore he slanders Peter.

The relationship between Grinev and Masha

Pyotr Andreevich has the brightest and purest feelings for the captain's daughter. He wholeheartedly became attached to the Mironov family, which has become dear to him. The young girl immediately liked the officer, but he tried to act delicately, composed poetry for her in order to win the heart of the beauty. The characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin give an idea of the concept of honor in these two people.

Alexey Ivanovich wooed Mironova, but was refused, he could not admit defeat with dignity, so he tried with all his might to tarnish the girl's reputation. Grinev, in turn, protects his beloved, challenging the opponent to a duel. Peter is ready to give his life for Masha, risking, he rescues the girl from the imprisonment of Shvabrin, takes her out of the fortress. Even at the trial, he tries not to tarnish the honor of Mironova, although he faces life-long penal servitude. This behavior speaks of the nobility of the hero.

Grinev's attitude to Pugachev

Pyotr Andreevich does not approve of the actions of the rebels and zealously defends the fortress from them; during the execution of the officers, he refuses to swear allegiance to Pugachev, because he serves the empress. Nevertheless, Grinev admires the generosity, justice and organizational skills of the leader of the rebels. The hero and Pugachev develop their own, somewhat strange, but friendly relations based on mutual respect. The rebel remembers Grinev's kindness and repays him in kind. Although Peter did not go over to the side of Pugachev, he still has a good opinion of him.

Shvabrin's attitude to Pugachev

The characterization of Shvabrin and Pyotr Grinev shows a different attitude towards the honor of the military among these officers. If the main character did not want to betray the empress even on pain of death, then for Alexei Ivanovich his own life is most important. As soon as Pugachev called on the officers to go over to him, Shvabrin immediately went over to the side of the rebels. For this person, there is nothing sacred, at the right time he is always ready to trip up others, so the recognition of the power of the rebels is nothing more than an attempt to save his life.

Spiritual formation of Grinev and the fall of Shvabrin

Throughout the story, the reader follows the spiritual growth of the protagonist. The characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin speak for themselves: if there is nothing sacred for Alexei, he is ready to step over anyone in order to achieve his goal, then Peter conquers with his nobility, kindness, honesty and humanity.

The plot of the story "The Captain's Daughter" is based on the events of the late 17th century. A wave of riots under the command of the impostor Pugachev swept across Russia. The hero of Pushkin's work is the young nobleman Pyotr Grinev. What does Shvabrin have in common with the main character?

In order to find similarities in these heroes, a comparative description should be given. What Grinev and Shvabrin have in common can be understood already from the chapter that tells about their meeting.

Attitude towards people

Grinev is seventeen years old. He is the son of a landowner, an adherent of old traditions. At the beginning of the work, Grinev is shown as an open but frivolous teenager. Peter was greatly influenced by the tutor - a frivolous person and not the best teacher. However, the Frenchman taught his ward several lessons in fencing, which later saved his life.

Already at the beginning of the story, the reader sees that the main character is a kind, sympathetic person. Suffice it to recall the scene of the meeting with Pugachev. An unknown man helped Grinev to get out to the inn. Peter thanked his savior by presenting him with a hare sheepskin coat. It's hard to say what Grinev and Shvabrin have in common. Indeed, for the latter, the attitude towards people is due to prudence. Shvabrin is a vengeful, spiteful person. At first, Peter is glad to meet a young nobleman, but soon he is disappointed in his new friend.

Masha Mironova

Alexey is insidious, vile. He speaks disgustingly about the inhabitants of the fortress, including Masha, who refused to marry him. What do Grinev and Shvabrin have in common? They are both in love with the captain's daughter. True, they express their feelings in different ways.

Shvabrin is trying in every possible way to denigrate the failed bride. He calls her a fool, and after reading a poem dedicated to the captain's daughter, he spreads dirty gossip about her. Masha, according to Alexei, is ready to reciprocate to the one who will give her a gift. Grinev does not allow himself to speak badly about people. He is a real nobleman.

Peter stands up for the honor of the girl, challenges Alexei to a duel. Further, the author depicts a scene that answers the question of what Grinev and Shvabrin have in common. One thing in common is the ability to fence. Otherwise, these characters are complete opposites. Shvabrin strikes the enemy when he turns to the servant's cry. Stabbing in the back is a tactic characteristic of Alexei.

But back to the main character of Pushkin's story. Grinev loves Masha, and this feeling is mutual. But if the girl's heart belonged to another person, his attitude towards her would not change. This is a noble man, acting in any situation, as the officer's duty tells him. Shvabrin, having gone over to Pugachev's side, made Masha his captive. What is common between Grinev and Shvabrin in relation to the main character is stated above. This is love. However, in the chapters about the seizure of the fortress, Alexei is depicted in such an unsightly form that the reader doubts whether this person is capable of love. Love is an unselfish feeling, and Shvabrin always strives for profit.

Attitude to the Fatherland

Events that take place after the capture of the fortress reveal the characteristics of the heroes to the maximum. Shvabrin without hesitation goes over to the side of the rebels. He is so afraid of death that he instantly forgets about the oath he gave to the empress. Grinev manages to follow his father's instructions even at a critical moment. Peter refuses to swear allegiance to the rebel, while honestly declaring his duty to the Fatherland to Pugachev.

Oddly enough, the robber Emelyan has sympathy for the young nobleman. And the point is not even that Peter once gave him a sheepskin coat and treated him to wine. Pugachev sees that he is not a coward, a man with firm convictions. Even an impostor, on whose conscience there are many deaths, respects an officer who did not back down from his words in moments of mortal danger.

For Shvabrin, nothing is sacred. He betrays his Motherland, renounces the officer rank. But he is very vindictive. Once under arrest, Shvabrin is trying in every possible way to slander Grinev. Masha saves Peter from execution.

What the heroes Grinev and Shvabrin have in common

There are more differences than similarities in these images. It is impossible to make a general description of Grinev and Shvabrin. Both the first and the second are of noble origin. Both Grinev and Shvabrin are officers. But it is impossible to call a defector, a coward, a traitor a nobleman. A nobleman is one for whom a sense of duty is above all. This is the one who knows neither self-interest, nor cowardice, nor vindictiveness. The classic image of a Russian nobleman is Pyotr Grinev. Shvabrin is the antipode of the protagonist of Pushkin's story.

Shvabrin and Grinev are the main characters of Alexander Pushkin's story "The Captain's Daughter".
Ob-noblemen, both officers, both serve in the Belogorsk fortress, both are in love with Masha Mironova.
This is where the similarities end. Shvabrin was transferred to the fortress for murder, Pyotr Grinev came here at the request of his father, who wanted his son to receive first-class army training not in the capital.
Young people have different understanding of their duty. As soon as Emelyan Pugachev took the Belogorsk fortress, Shvabrin, trimmed into a circle, immediately went over to his side, fearing for his life. Grinev honestly told the impostor that he had sworn allegiance to the empress and would not serve him.
Shvabrin behaves ugly in relation to Grinev. He slanders his parents about the unworthy behavior of his son, envious of the fact that Masha Mironova preferred Peter, and not him. In addition, he laughs at his friend's poems instead of supporting them. Shvabrin does not know how to be friends, to betray - at the expense of "time".
Both Shvabrin and Grinev are noblemen, but the second of them follows the commandment "take care of honor from a young age", and the first only thinks about his own skin. Introducing two peers to the readers 'judgment, Pushkin makes it clear that the Shvabrins' song has long been sung before the court of history, and the Grinevs are the elite of Russia and its future.

In his novel "The Captain's Daughter" A.S. Pushkin puts the problem of honor and human dignity in the first place. Throughout the entire work, he comprehensively develops this issue, confronting the main character Pyotr Grinev with other characters.
So, the complete opposite of Grinev is Alexei Ivanovich Shvabrin. It would seem that these people have a lot in common. They are both of noble birth, both young, reasonably well educated.
These heroes, it seems to me, have many similar interests. It is not for nothing that Pushkin emphasizes that these people were in close contact: "Of course, I saw AI Shvabrin every day ..."
We understand that both of them are interested in literature, poetry, in particular. So, Shvabrin knows well the work of V.K. Trediakovsky, and Grinev's poems were highly appreciated by Sumarokov himself.
In addition, the heroes have another common interest - Masha Mironova. Both of them are in love with the captain's daughter, both are caring for her. But it was this feeling, first of all, that showed the difference between the heroes, their completely opposite moral qualities, life principles.
Masha refused to Shvabrin, and he, in revenge, began to slander the innocent girl. He literally poured mud on the heroine, not at all embarrassed to then sit down with her and her parents at the same table, to be in their house. Moreover, Alexey Ivanovich, seeing that there is mutual sympathy between Grinev and Masha, did everything so that the young people were not together.
Pyotr Grinev does not share and does not accept this behavior of his "friend". He considers him unworthy not only of a nobleman, but also of an honest man in general. Grinev challenges Shvabrin to a duel, trying to protect the good name of his beloved. It is important that in this duel of honor, Alexey Ivanovich behaves dishonestly.
But in all their fullness, the characters of the heroes were revealed during the Pugachev uprising. Both of them became witnesses and participants in terrible events that threatened them and their loved ones with death.
Shvabrin took the easy path. He, forgetting about his oath to the empress, about his noble honor, went over to the side of Pugachev: “After all, he cut his hair into a circle and now we have a feast with them right there! Agile, there is nothing to say! " Thus, Shvabrin becomes a traitor, preferring a dishonest life to an honest death.
Grinev, under the same conditions, chooses something else. He declares in Pugachev's face that he cannot become his supporter, because he swore on the Bible that he would be faithful to the Empress Empress: “No,” I answered with firmness. - I am a natural nobleman; I swore allegiance to the Empress: I cannot serve you. "
This behavior of the hero commands respect even from Pugachev. He releases Peter from the fortress. But, moreover, the rebel helps Grinev rescue Masha from the imprisonment in which the girl was imprisoned by Shvabrin. The dishonorable Alexei Ivanovich, taking advantage of his position, forced the girl to marry him. And only the brave act of loving Peter saved Masha from starvation.
As a result, Grinev, despite the malicious intrigues of Shvabrin, who slandered him, emerges victorious from all events. The preserved honor, self-esteem, as well as Masha's love help the hero stay alive and move on with his head held high. Shvabrin, seriously wounded, was taken prisoner by the state troops, began to bear the stigma of a criminal and a traitor.
Pushkin shows us that it is possible to preserve oneself, to emerge victorious from difficult life trials, only by preserving one's own honor, the Man in oneself. The writer clearly demonstrates this to us by the example of his two heroes - Grinev and Shvabrin. Frightened, following the lead of his base instincts, a person risks not with his body, but with his soul. And this is much worse, in my opinion.

Comparative characteristics of Grinev and Shvabrin (option 2)

The Belogorsk fortress was far from the then cultural and political centers, however, the wave of the Pugachev revolt reached it. The small garrison took up an unequal battle. The fortress fell. Emelyan Pugachev makes his own "imperial" court, that is, he ruthlessly deals with unarmed people. It is this moment in the story that is key for the comparative description of the two heroes of The Captain's Daughter - Grinev and Shvabrin.
Grinev was raised in the family of a retired military man and became an officer himself. Petrusha is a gentle and conscientious young man, full of the brightest dreams. For him, the height of human well-being is the service in the guard. However, life itself dispels his illusions. After the card loss to Zurin, Grinev is ashamed. The meeting with the counselor that followed soon shows that Petrusha is a good person. Despite Savelich's admonition, Grinev gives the counselor a hare sheepskin coat from his shoulder. Service in the Belogorsk fortress was not burdensome, Petrusha falls in love with the commandant's daughter Masha Mironova. Falling in love makes Grinev a poet. Petrusha shares his poetic tests with Alexei Shvabrin, a young officer exiled to the fortress for participating in a duel. It turns out that Schwab-rin was also in love with Masha, but was refused. Shvabrin tries to blacken the girl in the eyes of Grinev, and he challenges him to a duel. Petrusha receives a minor wound from his former friend. But even after that, Shvabrin continues to envy Grinev, because Masha and her parents are caring for the wounded young man. However, Shvabrin soon gets the opportunity to take revenge.
Pugachev called everyone to join his rebellious army. Shvabrin happily agrees: he swears allegiance to the impostor. Grinev, despite the mortal danger, does not betray his military oath and dares to stand up for the orphaned Masha Mironova. Thus, rivals in love and opponents in a duel stand on opposite sides of the barricades. Shvabrin's position is still less favorable: by joining Pugachev, he thereby once and for all put himself outside the law. Grinev, whom Pugachev remembers from meeting on the way, tells the impostor the truth about his beloved, hoping for leniency on the part of the leader. Grinev wins this psychological battle, saving himself and Masha.
Two officers of the Russian army - Pyotr Grinev and Alexei Shvabrin behave completely differently: the first follows the laws of officer honor and remains faithful to the military oath, the second easily becomes a traitor. Grinev and Shvabrin are carriers of two fundamentally different worldviews. This is how they are portrayed by the author of the story "The Captain's Daughter"
